Santa's little Helpers

My friend Sara and I decided to buy these cute Santa's little Helper onesies for Jensen and Oliver. Our husbands think it's cheesy, but we thought it was pretty freakin' cute. I'm sure they'll thank us one day when we show these pictures to their prom dates.

Reflecting

Well now that I've had some time to reflect on what has happened these last 2 months, I am so amazed. Going from being miserably huge and pregnant to having sore boobs and feeling tired all the time. I can remember feeling so frustrated my last few weeks of pregnancy, every visit to the OB telling me that this baby was in there for the long haul (I was a "0" in diameter up until the day I delivered). I remember feeling so excited to meet my new baby boy and wondering what and who he'd look like.

And now I have the most beautiful baby boy in the world. He couldn't be more perfect. He's a good eater and sleeper (who could ask for more). He started sleeping through the night last week. Which is great, but no one tells you that YOU are still not sleeping through the night for fear your boobs might explode. He started smiling and laughing a few weeks ago. I've never heard a sweeter sound than hearing my baby "coo" for the first time.

I love being a mom. This is definitely different and nothing like I expected. It's the most natural and awkward thing I've ever done. I'm not as tired as I thought I would be, I didn't think my chest could hurt as much as it has, I never thought a stream of urine could look like the water show at the Belagio, a shower has never felt so good, who knew all my nursing skills and knowledge would go out the window and be completly useless, and I've learned to eat faster than anyone I know. So to sum it up, being a mom is great and I'm adjusting.

#1 My plans for today are to take a shower. Most of you first time moms know what I'm talking about.
#2 The greatest accomplishments of my life are: giving birth to a beautiful baby boy (giving birth in itself is a great accomplishment), marrying the greatest man in the world, running a marathon, serving a mission in paradise (Hawaii), and getting my degree in nursing.
#3 My biggest pet peaves are when patients come into the emergency room for a sore throat and wonder why they are waiting for 3 hours, when there is someone in the back is having a massive heart attack (I'm sure most of you are wondering why I became a nurse considering I am so compassionate, hahaha)
#4 A small list of things I hope to do before I die: climb Kilamenjaro (I don't think you have to know how to spell it to climb it), dive in the Great Barrier Reef, stay in one of those over the water huts in Fiji, see the Teracota Warriors before my brother-in-law Stan (j/k Stan), and get something named after me (all very realistic, I know)
#5 Things I have already accomplished on my list: be serenaded on a gondola in Venice, kiss the love on my life on Pont Neuf in Paris, go swimming under a waterfall on Kauai, surf in Hawaii (and not die), swim with dolphins, stay at a Ritz Carlton (definitely not over rated), and touch the code of Hammurabi in the Louvre (it's probably not acceptable, but it had to be done)
#6 My favorite snack of all time is apples with Nutella (the most delicious hazelnut goodness you've ever tasted)

Jensen's 1st Halloween

Well, we weren't going to dress him up this year, thinking he was too small to fit into anything. But here he is! Our friends, JOHN, JULIE and ELA MARTIN, let us borrow this costume they had bought at Build-a-Bear, and it fit perfectly. He's the cutest little pumpkin I've ever seen. We went to a few homes (mostly to show him off, and to get some candy for us). We had a great Halloween, especially for Jensen's first.
