Fall Pics!

So Fall is among us here in Minneapolis. It's brisk and beautiful with all othe different colors of fall (man, I could write poems or something). Anyway, we decided to take some family pictures at the park by our house, Minnehaha. There is this beautiful trail that I go on sometimes with Jensen, that is just a bike and walking path and full of trees. I have loved jogging there recently with all the leaves changing colors so I thought it would be a perfect place for pictures. This is what we got. Thank you Stephanie for being so patient and taking pictures of our family!

He's close to walking, but not quite yet. Maybe Jensen and Reed can start walking again together.

Poor Reed. He was such a good sport on his crutches.

He's as impatient as his mom. He just loved all the leaves and wanted to get down and be in them all the time. So when we weren't taking pictures, this is what he was doing. I can't wait till he starts walking and I have to chase him.

weight: 20 lbs (10th percentile)
height: 29 inches (25th percentile)
head: 47 cm (75th percentile)

He's skinny, but very healthy. And obviously, his head's catching up to the Edwards family gene.

Jensen's second 1st Birthday

So we were able to have another birthday for Jensen here in Minnesota. We just had a few good friends over for cake and ice cream. And we were really lucky to be able to have my mom come from Utah.

So this is the second cake that we let him dig into. The last one he just dug in with his hands, but this one he didn't even use his hands he just started biting into it. I wonder where he gets that from (dad?).

Here are some of Jensen's friends, Will and Ladd.

I love Ladd's face here. He would do this whenever he would see the car go. It was so cute. We are so lucky to have good friends.

This is us at the apple orchard we went to earlier in the week with my mom. This orchard is in Stillwater, which is just beautiful. It's about 30 minutes away and just all country. Minnesotans pride themselves on the Honey Crisp apple. And I must admit, it's probably one of the best apples I have tasted. So if you ever have a chance to try this Minnesota original, I highly recommend it.

He went on a hay ride with grandma and just loved it. He loved having his Vovo here to play with and all the attention he got.

Jensen decided he wanted to pick his own apples.

Church Basketball: It's not all it's cracked up to be!

So here's Reed's version of what happened on Wednesday. I have gone through and added in parentheses some of my version too. He also got a red cast in honor of our Utes! What a Fan!

Here's a quick summary in case you care...

I jumped like 5 or 6 feet in the air to get a rebound (playing church basketball), came down on someone's foot, I looked down and it's like I watched my ankle roll in slow motion. I have never felt anything like the crazy pain I felt last night before we got to the hospital. I looked down and the bottom of my foot which is usually supposed to be flat, was hanging at like a 45 degree angle inward...and I couldn't move it. Not good. We were at the church for a few minutes while they tried to figure out how to get me to a hospital and they ended up tossing me in the back of some strangers dodge caravan....pretty sweet.

We got to the ER, they gave me some pain meds and took some xrays. Tthey then gave me some drug that sort of gives you amnesia (Versed, for those of you in the medical field) and then the pulled it straight and let it pop into place. I remember it happening but I don't remember the pain. After all was said and done apparently it was a rare dislocated foot (Talo navicular dislocation) but nothing was broken. We went to an orthopedic surgeon today that said he rarely sees those kind of dislocations and sent us to an orthopod that specializes in feet and ankle injuries.

It's always nice to have your pain validated by all of the ER docs and nurses seeing it for the first time and saying "whoa" and "oh my gosh" and "I've never seen anything like this before" (I always complain to Reed about all the "drug seekers" that come into the ER. When I finally got there the nurse was laughing saying that Reed kept repeating that he was not a drug seeker, but was in a lot of pain and wanted some drugs. They thought that was very funny.)

I found a pic on the internet of what it looks like and Allie said this is exactly what it looked like (actually his looked worse. I was very sad that I didn't take a pic, but I got there right when they were about to reduce it). There's no blood but it's still pretty so don't look if you don't think you can't take it (I actually wanted to post the pic, but Reed said that some people have weak stomachs. I'm kind of sick. I love this stuff, just not when it happens to my husand). Enjoy....

Tourists in Utah!

So Jensen and I decided to go to Utah to visit friends, family, and celebrate his 1st birthday (a little early). We had such a great time. We went to the zoo with Jonah, Luke, Erin, Grandma, Kira, Dan and Katie. Jensen loves the animals. And he especially loves his cousins. Then on Saturday, Vo threw Jensen an early birthday party. It was so much fun. Jensen got lots of presents and just loved his cake. At first he wasn't sure if it was ok for him to dig in. He kept looking at me, and then just dug in. There was about an inch of frosting, so that's all he was eating at first. He just loved it. We had a great time! Thank you to everyone that helped us have such good time.

Minnesota Zoo

We went to the Minnesota Zoo this last weekend. We had such a great time and Jensen loved it! The Zoo was absolutely amazing. It was huge and very beautiful. They do a very good job in staying true to the animals' environments.

We went the bird show that has birds from all over the world: parrots, macaus, cranes, hawks, cockatoos, and the amazing bald eagle. Which we just learned is no longer on the endangered species list. Very cool!

Jensen just loved the bird show. It was very cute. He would get so excited every time the birds would fly over his head.

Here we are at the Russian bear habitat. I know Jensen doesn't look too excited, but he really liked watching the bears rough house with each other. This gives a new definition to "bear hugs"

Jensen was so funny with the leopards. He loved it when they would get up and growl. It was funny how he would try to talk to them, like they could understand what he was saying.

We went to see the fish and otters too. I think Jensen was trying to figure out what to think of it. I wonder what he's thinking a lot of the times.

This is the end of a long day for Jensen. What a trooper.

The Great Minnesota Get Together....

or otherwise known as Minnesota State Fair! There is a huge hype here about what an experience it is to go to the fair, so we decided to check it out. And it definitely lived up to the hype. We had a great time seeing all the different things especially the people.

This is my favorite picture. Jensen doesn't really know what to think. But he was able to hold the baby pig for a bit. It was really cute!

Here we are in the Birthing Barn. That's right, the birthing barn. They say that there is a birth every few hours. There were 12 little piggies born while we were there. There was also a cow in labor for the last 4 hours. It was definitely an experience. We didn't post pictures of that for those of you with weak stomachs.

This baby lamb is 3 days old, so cute. Jensen really didn't know what he was supposed to do here, but he was brave enough to touch it. After we were done here, he kept trying to turn around to see what the baby lamb was doing.

Like father, like son! This was actually THE BEST roasted corn I have ever tasted. It was amazing and definitely one of the favorite things at the Fair. Jensen loved the corn and was very sad when it was all done.

Here's Reed with his fried Twinkie. Definitely a dream come true. Most of the food at the fair was either fried or on a stick, or both. You name it: fried twinkies, sausage, egg wrapped in sausage fried, fried pickles, sweet potato, hot dogs, french fries, polish dogs, fried cheese curds etc. Well you get the picture.
